This gourmet salad and food dressing originated in a small country roadside cafe in far northern Wisconsin in a tiny community known as Ellis Junction. Set in a land of pristine rivers, lakes and streams, the cafe first opened its doors in 1932. Passenger bus and train customers frequented this small café, enjoying the home cooked food and salad dressings. The café grew and became known as “Matty’s Steak House.” To satisfy customers’ requests, Mother Matty began bottling and marketing the popular Matty's Salad Dressing until her retirement in the 1970’s. Tiny Ellis Junction is now called Crivitz. With family pride and tradition, a member of the original Matty family of Matty’s Steak House has brought this recipe back. Enjoy our resurrected “Matty’s Salad and Food Dressing” on any of your favorite foods.
